Congratulations Cav. Rev. Msgr. Donald Sakano on Your Investiture into the Order as Knight of Ecclesiastical Grace

On Sunday, June 23rd, the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, Reverend Monsignor Donald Sakano celebrated his last Mass as Pastor of the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral and the Shrine Church of the Most Precious Blood in New York City. Serving nearly twelve years as pastor and approaching 75 years of age, Monsignor will be retiring as is required by the policy of the Archdiocese of New York. However, he begins the new phase of his ministry as a Knight in the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George.

Following Mass at the packed Basilica, Monsignor was proclaimed Ecclesiastical Knight of Grace by virtue of the mandate received from His Royal Highness the Grand Master, Prince Carlo di Borbone delle Due Sicilie, Duke of Castro. Representing our Delegate HE Cav. John M. Viola, the rite was executed in the sanctuary by Cav. Charles Sant’Elia. Cavalieri John Napoli and Vincent Gangone were in attendance. IHSV

Happy Feast of San Giovanni Battista!

Prayer to St. John the Baptist

O Glorious Saint John the Baptist, greatest prophet among those born of woman, although you were sanctified in your mother’s womb and did lead a most innocent life, nevertheless it was your will to retire into the wilderness, there to devote yourself to the practice of austerity and penance, obtain for me from your Lord the grace to be wholly detached, at least in my heart, from earthly goods, and to practice Christian mortification with interior recollection and with the spirit of holy prayer.

O Most Zealous Apostle, who, without working any miracle on others, but solely by the example of your life of penance and the power of your word, did draw after you the multitudes, in order to dispose them to receive the Messiah worthily and to listen to his heavenly doctrine, grant that it may be given unto me, by means of your example of a holy life and the exercise of every good work, to bring many souls to God, but above all to those souls that are enveloped in the darkness of error and ignorance and are led astray by vice.

O Martyr Invincible, who, for the honor of God and the salvation of souls, did with firmness and constancy withstand the impiety of Herod even at the cost of your own life, and did rebuke him openly for his wicked and dissolute life, by your prayers obtain for me a heart, brave and generous, in order that I may overcome all human respect and openly profess my faith in loyal obedience to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Pray for me, Saint John the Baptist, that I may be made worthy of the promises of Christ, specifically, (mention request here).

O God, who has made this day to be honorable in our eyes by the commemoration of blessed John the Baptist, grant unto your people the grace of spiritual joy, and direct the minds of all your faithful into the way of everlasting salvation.

Happy Feast of San Cono!

Prayer to Saint Cono

O Glorious Saint Cono, innocent angel of purity burning with Holy Love, I humbly kneel before you and together with all those devoted to you I offer you the most sincere affection of my heart. Your burning love towards God and your fellow man was foretold by the cone of flames and merited your supernatural deliverance from the fiery furnace. Help us as you have helped so many and pray for us always, but especially in this hour of needs. Guide us and protect us from the snares of the Devil, bless us and our loved ones, and help to keep us all in God's graces, so like you, may we be inflamed by God's love until we meet in Heaven our true home, where you now behold the Glorious Trinity, on God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
