original standard with embroidered coat of arms of Craco, Matera, Basilicata.
Warmly welcomed by the Craco Society, members of the Order served as honor guard Sunday morning at the 117th Annual Feast of San Vincenzo, Martire di Craco, at the Shrine Church of the Most Precious Blood (113 Baxter St.) in Little Italy, New York. Mass was celebrated by Msgr. Nicholas Grieco, who spoke at length about the martyrdom of San Vincenzo, San Maurizio and the Theban Legion. In deference to the Order, Monsignor also said a few words about the anniversary of the Battle of the Milvian Bridge (312 AD) and the conversion of Emperor Constantine the Great.

Heartfelt thanks to Fred Spero and all the members of the Craco Society for your warmth and hospitality. It was an honor and a privilege to be a part of your special day and celebrate our faith together. Viva San Vincenzo!

Remembering the Battle of the Milvian Bridge

On this day in 312 AD our sacred Order’s patron, Emperor Constantine the Great, defeated the usurper Maxentius at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge. The day before the epic battle that changed the world, the Emperor had a vision of the Chi and the Rho (XP), the first two letters of Christ’s name in Greek, and heard a voice proclaim “In Hoc Signo Vinces,” which means “By this sign you will conquer.” Ordering his militia to paint the symbol on their shields, Constantine’s legions won the day against the more numerous enemy. The Emperor converted to Christianity and with the promulgation of the Edict of Milan legalized the faith, thus ending 300 years of religious persecution. Constantine’s guard would became the ancestors of the Knights and Dames of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George and their symbol and the initials IHSV remain on our badges

Constantinian Auxiliary Hits the Streets of Lower Manhattan for Inaugural Homeless Food Walk

The volunteers are all smiles (Photos by Cav. John Napoli)
Thursday evening, volunteers gathered at the Church of the Transfiguration (29 Mott Street) in Chinatown, New York to prepare and distribute food to the homeless. Forming assembly lines in the cafeteria, our spirited little group diligently put together 24 bags of ready-to-eat food and toiletries. In addition to time, each volunteer brought something to give, however the lion's share of the food was generously donated by our dear friends at Caffé Napoli (191 Hestor Street) in Little Italy.

Packed and raring to go, we each took a few parcels and pounded the wet and humid streets of Chinatown and Two Bridges. The bulk of the food was distributed in Five Points and nearby Columbus Park Pavilion, where the homeless regularly seek shelter from the elements. Needless to say, each and every recipient was grateful for the kind words and care packages.

Many thanks are in order to Antonio, Anna and Konstantinos Mavrianos-Cesare. This walk doesn’t happen without you. Thank you Andrew Giordano of the St. Rocco Society of Potenza, Raymond Guarini of Italian Enclaves and my consorella, Dama Rosanna Minervini of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George. Your hard work and dedication are truly inspiring. Thank you to Maria and Lou of Caffé Napoli who sought us out to contribute to this worthy cause. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Pastor Lo for your support and blessings. It is an honor to serve with such an outstanding group of people. God Bless you all. IHSV

Volunteers will continue to meet every first Thursday of the month at 7:00PM at the Church of the Transfiguration at 29 Mott Street in Chinatown, New York.  Anyone interested in supporting this charitable endeavor can contact Cav. John Napoli at jnapoli@smocsg.com
