The Royal House of Bourbon Two Sicilies Visit the Virgin Aqueduct, a Hidden Treasure in Rome

Always very sensitive and interested in cultural heritage, the Royal Family decided to visit the Virgin Aqueduct on their last trip to Rome. A true secret treasure, also unknown to many of the city’s inhabitants, the Aqua Virgo Aqueduct or the Virgin Aqueduct is an extraordinary example of the architecture of the ancient Romans.

This is the sixth Roman aqueduct, the only one that is still operative and that extends below the district of Trevi, in the heart of the historic center.

TRH Prince Charles and Princess Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke and Duchess of Castro and their daughters, Princess Maria Carolina and Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon Two Sicilies, wore waterproof suits, rubber boots and protective helmets, and without delay submerged in those tunnels, whose width is approximately 1.5 meters, admiring the 15 arches and listening to the history of its construction.

The Dukes of Castro are great lovers of history and art, and in their travels never miss the opportunity to visit monuments and exhibitions. A passion that they have also transmitted to their daughters, who are always very enthusiastic about discovering what they have studied.

There are also numerous projects of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George, which are intended for the defense and improvement of cultural heritage in Italy and abroad.
